TransForce, one of the largest North American trucking operators, will acquire same-day and expedited carrier Velocity Express of Stafford, Texas.
Terms of the transaction, expected to close by the end of January, were not released.
Velocity, which operates a network of 80 locations in the U.S. and western Canada, will add about $160 million in revenue to TransForce’s top line, the company said.
TransForce also owns Dyanamex, a same-day carrier based in Texas acquired for $248 million in 2010, and Quik X Transportation, acquired in 2011.
TransForce has grown by acquiring companies in a broad range of transportation industries, from oil-field hauling to package and industrial freight shipping.
The $2.7 billion Montreal-based group functions as a holding company for nearly 70 package and courier, LTL and truckload and specialized trucking subsidiaries.
