Trucking and logistics company Roadrunner Transportation Systems acquired Capital Transportation Logistics in Nashua, N.H., for $6.25 million.
The acquisition adds non-asset-based CTL to Roadrunner’s growing third-party transportation management or TMS business, which increased revenue 24.3 percent to $22 million in the fourth quarter as it gained new customers. CTL offers Web-based TMS services primarily for less-than-truckload freight, as well as truckload brokerage and freight bill audit and payment services.
“The acquisition of CTL broadens the service offerings within our TMS business segment and expands our critical mass, freight density and customer base in the Northeast,” said Mark DiBlasi, CEO of Cudahy, Wis.-based Roadrunner.
CTL had approximately $6 million in revenue in 2011, the companies said.
Roadrunner, one of the fastest growing truckers in the U.S., increased revenue 33.5 percent in 2011 to $843.6 million, compared with $632 million in 2010. The hybrid less-than-truckload and truckload operator’s fast growth got a boost from several acquisitions, higher pricing and strong freight demand.
