New England Motor Freight is a privately held less-than-truckload subsidiary of Shevell Group. Other companies in Shevell Group include Carrier Industries, Eastern Freight Ways, NEMF Logistics, NEMF World Transport, and Apex Logistics. Acquired by Shevell Group in 1977 with headquarters in Elizabeth, N.J., the company reported 2013 revenue of $450 million, up 0.6 percent year-over-year.

NEMF is No. 48 on JOC’s list of Top 50 Trucking Companies in 2013. The company operates more than 10,000 pieces of equipment, 40 terminals, and 32 service facilities throughout the Northeast and Midwest, making it one of the fastest-growing family-owned LTL carriers in 2013.

The LTL carrier reaches 80 percent of the U.S. population through service partnerships, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. Services offered include retail, LTL/TL, expedited service, just-in-time (JIT), sorting and segregating, labeling, garment-on-hanger (GOH), import/export services, and consolidation/distribution.
