China’s Freight Trucking Industry Shows Strong Growth

The freight trucking industry in China has been increasing at 13.8 percent per year, reaching about $59.3 billion in 2012, according to IBISWorld’s “Freight Trucking in China” report.

There are more than 62,500 freight trucking companies in China. The industry’s four main players — COSCO Logistics, Shanghai Jiao Yun, Dazhong Transportation and Guangxi Yuchai Logistics — accounted for less than 3.0 percent of industry revenue in 2012.

China’s rail system is overloaded and its transportation growth potential is limited without expansion of the railway network, offering opportunities for development, IBISWorld said.
