Transportation Intermediaries Association Announces Enhancements And Improvements In The TIA Watchdog® Program

JOC Staff |
Alexandria, VA –May 4, 2011 - The Transportation Intermediaries Association has just announced significant enhancements and improvements in its Watchdog® Program. This program is a forum for TIA members to report information about problems to each other, so that members can make informed decisions when selecting companies with whom to work. This reporting system gives TIA members a way to quickly alert each other to marketplace problems and help reduce future negative incidents from occurring that involve TIA members.

New Features:
  • TIA Agent Watchdog® will allow members who utilize independent sales agents to alert each other to the problems in their segment of the market.
  • It also has the ability to fully integrate TIA Watchdog® into the members’ software system, either directly or through a third party provider.
“TIA Watchdog®, and now TIA Agent Watchdog®, provides a significant benefit to TIA members in their efforts to protect both their customers and their own business from marketplace fraud. And both TIA Watchdog® and TIA Agent Watchdog® are provided as a benefit of membership,” says Robert Voltmann, TIA’s President and CEO. “This is one more way TIA helps its members succeed,” Voltmann added.

TIA Agent Watchdog will help members that utilize independent contractors by providing them a way to alert each other regarding problems they have experienced.

Specifics:
  • TIA Watchdog®: TIA members are able to report and check on motor carriers, or companies and individuals posing as motor carriers, that did one or more of the following: unauthorized re-brokering of shipments; no show and no call; cancelled after accepting load; held load hostage, back-solicited shipper; in-transit agreement modification; theft or unjustified loss of freight; and persistent canceling.
  • TIA Agent Watchdog®: TIA members can report and check independent contractors that did one or more of the following: booking false loads/providing false invoices; failure to perform as agreed on advances or loans; inflating margins; credit term violations; and carrier qualification process violations.
