Transportation Costing Group Growth Continues

Rockville, Md. – May 9, 2012 -- Transportation Costing Group (TCG), the premier provider of Activity-Based Costing and Profitability Management solutions for truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) motor carriers, today announced that adoption of its next generation Cost Information SystemTM, CIS/NG®, by a variety of motor carriers is generating ongoing growth for the company. In 2011, TCG’s revenues expanded 44 percent over 2010 and first quarter growth in 2012 was seven percent above the same period in 2011.

“The need for accurate cost analysis has never been greater for motor carriers operating in today’s highly competitive economic environment,” said Ken Manning, president of TCG. “CIS/NG provides the knowledge they need to continually improve productivity and profitability. The growing number of companies that are adopting our next generation solution by converting from their TCG legacy and in-house systems is a clear indication of the superiority of this technology.”

TCG is also adding to its staff to provide support and continued development of CIS/NG for new and existing customers. Tharpa Roberts, who holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from George Washington University, has joined the company to work as a .Net/SQL programmer on CIS/NG and other products.

CIS/NG is the most advanced costing and profitability management solution developed by TCG for LTL carriers. The new software provides all of the same applications and functionality of the former LTL Cost Information System (LTL/CISTM) along with offering improved productivity and scalability to match capacity and performance needs.

CIS/NG combines LTL motor carrier traffic and financial information with carrier and/or industry performance standards to develop the cost of individual shipments. The software consolidates functions in a single Costing and Reporting application so users can cost shipments, generate traffic reports and import external shipment data within the same application.

Results of shipment cost analyses are fully presented by CIS/NG, and can be expanded to include any or all activities, such as pickup cost detail and user-selected, targeted representative samples of bills used to generate weight and revenue variances. Costing and reporting operations in CIS/NG can run in the background, allowing use of the system while longer running jobs are performed.
