Tornados tore through the Dallas area this afternoon, throwing tractor-trailers into the air and grounding planes at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
At least two tornados touched down south of the city, according to news reports. Video on MSNBC showed the twisters sending tractor-trailers into the air.
Strong tornados along with severe thunderstorms and lightning are possible in north-central Texas through the evening, the National Weather Service said.
Reuters published images showing severe damage to tractor-trailer rigs in a truck yard near Dallas. Casualties from the storms have not yet been reported.
All travelers and truck drivers should be alert to the threat of tornados east of Dallas through this evening. The storms were moving to the north and east.
