Washington, DC, February 18, 2011: Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano is scheduled to speak directly to the U.S. trade community in June as the Obama Administration celebrates the 90th annual conference of the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI). BIS Under Secretary Eric Hirschhorn will also address the conference attendees to underscore the Administration’s commitment to promoting free trade and doubling U.S exports by 2015.

“The Obama Administration has embraced an agenda of boosting global trade to help revive the U.S. economy,” says AAEI President and CEO Marianne Rowden, “and AAEI serves as an important forum for two top government officials to speak on key Administration initiatives.”

As the U.S. trade community awaits new legislation on export control reform, the AAEI Annual Conference & Expo program will cover all angles of the issue. Key government officials and business representatives will address exporting from policy, technical and trade viewpoints. Registration for the event will open on Monday, February 28, 2011. The AAEI 90th Annual Conference & Expo will be held June 5-7, 2011 at the Hilton New York Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Formed in 1921 in New York to represent the interests of U.S. importers, AAEI has maintained its connection to the City by holding its annual conferences there.

AAEI has been the national voice of the trade community for 90 years. AAEI speaks to international trade, supply chain and customs and border protection issues covering the expanse of legal, technical and policy-driven concerns.
