The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed 2013 percentage standards for four fuel categories that are part of the agency’s Renewable Fuel Standard program.
The proposed volumes and standards are 1.28 billion gallons, or 1.12 percent, for biomass-based diesel; 2.75 billion gallons, or 1.60 percent, for advanced biofuels; 14 million gallons, or 0.008 percent, for cellulosic biofuels; and 16.55 million gallons, or 9.63 percent, for total renewable fuels.
The proposal will be open for 45 days for public comment. The EPA said it will consider stakeholder feedback before the proposal is finalized.
