Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood wasn’t on the list of Cabinet officials that a White House official said would hang around for President Obama’s second term, suggesting someone else might fill the spot held by the Illinois Republican, according to reports.
LaHood hinted late last year that he’d be up for staying around if Obama saw fit, a departure from his 2011 statement that he’d call it quits after one term. Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, both transportation advocates, have been discussed by Beltway insiders as potential replacements.
