President Obama today signed H.R. 6156, the Russia and Moldova Jackson-Vanik Repeal and Segei Mangitsky Rule of Law and Accountability Act of 2012, which authorizes the establishment of permanent normal trade relations with Russia and Moldova.
U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk today applauded this step, which will allow the U.S. to apply the World Trade Organization agreement to Russia, offering new trade opportunities for exporters.
Business Roundtable, an association of chief executives of U.S. companies, also commended the president’s approval of the legislation, and urged the administration to pursue an active trade agenda in 2013 to maximize economic growth.
