Thailand has amended its import conditions related to bovine spongiform encephalopathy, commonly known as “mad cow disease,” which will facilitate the exports of bovine products from the European Union.
The European Commission had expressed concern for the previous measures, which were more restrictive than the international standards of the World Organisation for Animal Health.
The European Commission has applauded Thailand’s regulatory change and encouraged the Southeast Asian country to bring other remaining import conditions on animals and animal products in line with international standards.
