The Federal Maritime Commission announced that its offices remain closed on Thursday while the local electric utility attempts to restore power to the building that houses its offices.
Local media said that about 1,800 Pepco customers have been without power since Tuesday since underground cables failed because of excessive hot weather in the Washington D.C. area.
The FMC’s offices are at 800 N. Capitol St., along with several other offices. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in a nearby building is also without power.
The FMC said that filings due on May 31, June 1 and 2 will be considered when the commission re-opens.
