Short-line and regional railroad operator Genesee & Wyoming Inc. announced yesterday that it has completed the acquisition of RailAmerica, Inc. The $1.4 billion deal was originally announced in July.
RailAmerica will be held in trust until GWI’s application for control of the company is approved by the U.S. Surface Transportation Board, which is expected in the fourth quarter of 2012 or the first quarter of 2013.
