ITI Board of Directors Elects Two New Members

DENVER — The Board of Directors of the Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) at the University of Denver has elected two new members. Elected to three-year terms were Robert Curry, Jr., and J. Christopher Lytle.

Robert (Bob) Curry, Jr., has more than 35 years of transportation industry experience. He is part of the Cal Cartage group of companies, focusing the majority of his time in his capacity as President and CEO of California Multimodal, LLC, better known as CMI. He continues in the tradition of his grandfather who founded California Cartage Company 68 years ago. Cal Cartage and CMI have grown from local LTL and container drayage companies to full service 4PLs that provide a variety of supply-chain services nationwide as well as in Mexico.

Mr. Curry has received numerous honors, including tributes from the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, the Coalition for Clean Air, the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, and other awards in connection with their clean truck program. He contributes to the industry with seats on the Board of Directors of the Coalition for Responsible Transportation and ATA’s Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference. He is also a member of IANA’s Intermodal Interchange Executive Committee.

J. Christopher Lytle, Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach, California, was named to the port’s top management position on November 14, 2011, by the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, the port's five-member governing body. A shipping industry veteran, Mr. Lytle previously served as Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the port from 2008 to 2011, reporting to former Executive Director Richard D. Steinke. Mr. Lytle joined the port in September 2006 as one of four Managing Directors, who oversaw the port’s Trade Relations and Port Operations Bureau, which includes the Communications, Trade Development, Security, and Maintenance Divisions.

Mr. Lytle previously served as Vice President of West Coast Operations for the French-based shipping line CMA CGM, which has significant marine and terminal operations at the ports of Long Beach, Oakland, and Seattle. He has also held executive positions at P&O Ports North America, Denmark-based APM (Maersk) Terminals, and Sea-Land Service, Inc. He has been affiliated with several associations serving the maritime industry, and he now serves as a Director of the Marine Exchange of Southern California, as a member of the Executive Committee for the Center for International Trade and Transportation, and as a Director on the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Board.
