CSX Names Brown as COO

David A. Brown will become the chief operating officer at eastern-U.S. railroad CSX Transportation when Tony Ingram retires from that post Dec. 31.

Michael J. Ward, the chairman, president and CEO, said Ingram was leaving after nearly 40 years in the industry that includes “one of the most successful operating tenures in U.S. railroading” at CSX.

Brown was most recently vice president and chief transportation officer at CSX, and part of Ingram’s team. He has 30 years of industry experience, the company said.

Cindy M. Sanborn will replace Brown in his current job. She has been vice president for the railroad’s northern region, responsible for operations and service, and has worked in the industry for 22 years.
