UP Names Butler VP, Marketing and Sales

Union Pacific Railroad tapped Eric Butler as vice president of marketing and sales, succeeding Jack Koraleski, who has taken the helm of the railroad while chairman James Young is on medical leave.

Butler, a near 26-year veteran of the largest U.S. railroad, most recently served as vice president and general manager of industrial products. Butler, who earned his undergraduate and masters of business administration from Carnegie-Mellon University, has held executive positions in the departments of supply, finance and human resources.

"Eric has vast knowledge of our operations and customers' needs," said Koraleski, acting president and CEO. "We finished last year with the best customer satisfaction results in the company's 150-year history. I am extremely confident in Eric's ability to lead our marketing and sales team to continue our record-setting performance for customer satisfaction and service while helping us reach our safety and productivity goals, as well."

Butler will be succeeded by Bradley Thrasher, who most recently served as assistance vice president and general manager of the railroad’s distribution services. Kate Betsworth, who most recently served as assistance vice president of industrial products, was promoted to Thrasher’s old position.
