Kansas City Southern Railway has shut down intermodal service on both its main lines south and east of Shreveport after severe flooding on the Louisiana-Texas border. The railroad declined to comment to say when service would be restored and how much cargo was affected.

Kansas City Southern Railway pulled back its optimism that a new Mexico container terminal would reap new container hauling business, the latest blow to the railroad’s intermodal volume that fell 6 percent year-over-year in the last three months of 2015.

Following months of service problems and public hearings, the U.S. Surface Transportation Board will require all Class I railroads to issue weekly performance metrics in areas including train speed, terminal dwell times, train delays and others.
