Canada Dispatchers Ratify CN Rail Accord

Train dispatchers in Canada for Canadian National Railway have ratified a three-year labor contract that goes back to 2009.

CN said its 200 members of Teamsters Canada Rail Conference/Rail Canada Traffic Controllers approved the deal that covers 2009 through 2011.

It includes a retroactive wage hike for 2009 of 1.8 percent, plus a 2.4 percent increase this year and 2.6 percent in 2011. CN said it also makes dental plan coverage changes that take effect in June.

CN is the largest of Canada’s two major railroads, and has extensive trackage in the United States. But its U.S. and Canadian employees are under separate union contracts.
