BNSF Railway promoted Greg Fox to executive vice president for operations, reporting to Carl Ice, whose promotion to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer was announced earlier this week. In his new role, Fox will also serve as a member of BNSF's executive team.
Operations functions reporting to Fox include Engineering; Mechanical; Transportation; Safety, Training and Operations Support; and Resource Protection.
Fox has served as vice president, Transportation, since May 2007.

Under Greg's guidance and vision, we have made great strides in Transportation and many other areas. We look forward to his contribution as he brings these same strengths to leading our entire Operations organization."
In 1984, Fox began his railroad career as a corporate management trainee in Fort Worth for the former Burlington Northern Railroad. Fox has held Operations positions such as trainmaster, terminal trainmaster, and terminal superintendent, and also positions with increasing responsibility in Finance and Strategic Planning, Information Technology, and eBusiness. He was named vice president, Technology Services, and chief information officer in April 2001, and vice president, Engineering, starting in September 2002.
Fox holds a bachelor's degree in finance and transportation management from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. in corporate finance from Avila College.
