ContainerPort Group has moved to a larger and more centrally located facility in Indianapolis, which is expected to be fully operation by Oct. 7.
The new facility’s location is near Interstates 65, 70 and 465, and is well positioned to service the CSX rail ramp and Indiana Rail Road Co.’s newly opened intermodal rail ramp, which is operated by CPG.
CPG’s increased acreage will enhance the operation’s terminal throughput and provide customers with additional container yard and loaded trailer storage options, the Ohio-based container shipping services provider said. CPG also noted that the expansion complements its existing Midwest and Ohio Valley network.
“This move strategically positions us for continued growth in the Indianapolis market,” said Jim Kramer, CPG’s senior vice president of commercial, in a written statement. “With the introduction of the Canadian National’s direct rail service from Vancouver and Prince Rupert into Indianapolis, the opening of our new Indianapolis facility will provide CPG customers with the services they require to position themselves to capitalize on the growth in this market.”
