Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi, which includes Khalifa Port, is establishing a representative office in Mumbai, India, to tap growing global markets.
The Indian unit, which will be Kizad’s first office outside the United Arab Emirates, will operate as a legal entity of Abu Dhabi Ports Company. The new office is scheduled to start operating in the fourth quarter of the year.
“This new venture, although considered modest, is an important milestone in the development of ADPC’s international presence in certain key markets globally,” Kizad said in a statement.
ADPC manages and operates Khalifa Port, which is specially designed to take over container operations from Abu Dhabi’s 40-year-old Mina Zayed Port. The new hub in its first phase is capable of handling 2.5 million 20-foot containers and 12 million tons of cargo per year, going up to 15 million TEUs and 35 million tons when fully built out.
