Schneider National is adding 200 truck drivers in Arizona and opening a facility in Phoenix.
The new facility is scheduled to open in September to support increasing demand from customers in the western regional service, according to the firm, No. 7 on JOC’s list of the of the Top 50 Trucking Companies. It said it has seen more than 40 percent growth in load volume in Arizona in the past year. The new location will complement Schneider’s base of operations and customer service in the West, which includes facilities in Fontana and French Camp, Calif.; North Salt Lake City, Utah; and Portland, Ore.
Schneider is also hiring experienced drivers and driving school graduates, offering sign-on bonuses of up to $5,000. Driving school graduates are also eligible for up to $6,000 in tuition reimbursement. Most of the drivers will work in Schneider’s western regional division.
Additionally, the company has expanded its owner-operator leases to include both percent of revenue and mileage lease options. Previously, Schneider did not offer its percent of revenue or “choice” lease option to owner-operators west of Texas.
“Customers continue to explore ways to improve their supply chains, and regional service is a smart solution,” said Dave Geyer, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider Van Truckload, in a written statement. “Our western regional service, which specializes in shipments that are 500 miles or less, was the first to launch in 2008. Customers, drivers and owner-operators have seen tremendous value, and expansion in the West will enable our growth.”
