The average revenue per intermodal load rose 10 percent year-over-year in June 2013, more than double the increases seen in the previous four months, according to the Intermodal Association of North America. The yield amounted to $2,816 per intermodal shipment, up from $2,557 in June 2012.
June’s average revenue also increased from May by 4.7 percent or $127. The current yield is 10.6 percent higher than where it stood at the beginning of 2013. During the first half of this year, the average revenue increased 3 percent from the same six months of 2012.
The average revenue per highway load experienced its seventh straight yearly decline in June, slipping 2.5 percent to $1,434, from $1,471 in June 2012. The yield rose month-to-month by 2 percent or $29 from May. The current average revenue is down 1.4 percent from January. From January to June, the yield was down 2 percent from the level obtained in the same period in 2012.
