Tulsa Port of Catoosa, an inland water port in Oklahoma, reported that inbound and outbound shipping through the port in June totaled 213,660 tons, pushing the total for the year to date to 1.41 million tons, close to the 1.47 million tons reported in the first half of 2012.
2012 was a record year for the port.
“We will always see seasonal variations in various types of cargoes that move through the port, but overall, our numbers are very strong this year,” said David Page, chairman of the city of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority, in a written statement.
Total shipping for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in June was 930,291 tons, nearly 100,000 tons higher than the previous month. Oklahoma’s share of the June navigation system was 479,640 tons, of which 45 percent was handled by the port.
