Supply chain strategist Page Siplon, who heads the Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics, is taking on a bigger role as director of the Georgia Centers of Innovation.
The GCOI includes the logistics center, which Siplon will continue to lead, and centers for agriculture, aerospace, energy, life sciences and technology and manufacturing.
The appointment by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, which runs the GCOI, elevates Siplon's already high profile on the state and national stage.
On the state level, Siplon also helped the Georgia Department of Transportation develop its first compehensive freight and logistics action plan, released in March 2012.
He advises industry groups such as SMC3, a trucking and logistics technology provider and industry association that organizes educational programs nationwide.
Siplon is vice chairman of the National Supply Chain Competitiveness Advisory Committee, which will help shape freight policy at the U.S. Commerce Department.
