DB Schenker has established its own legal entity in Laos and will now operate under the name “Schenker (Lao) Sole Co.” across the region.
Although present in the Southeast Asian country since 2001 as a representative office of Schenker (Thai), the process of establishing a legal entity manifests DB Schenker’s “strong commitment” to its customers in Laos and enables DB Schenker to expand its service offerings and operational capabilities, the logistics company said in a written statement.
In the first phase of its planned investments in Laos, DB Schenker has invested in establishing a 3,000-square-meter (32,292-square-foot) distribution center in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The logistics facility would look to service customers across industries such as telecommunications, consumer goods and garments.
“With Laos holding a key geographical position and sharing its borders with some of the most important economies in the region, it is imperative that we grow our international trucking services to let our customers have the choice of using the most cost-effective mode of transport for their goods,” said Victor Lim, DB Schenker’s managing director for Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, in a written statement.
