Florida International Terminal is the new terminal operator and stevedore for the service, which employs five 3,237-TEU container ships.
“The GAX service offers our customers an additional well-established East-West connection,” said Steven Cernak, Port Everglades’ chief executive and port director, in a written statement.
The last vessel calling Miami will be Hapag-Lloyd’s St. Louis Express, voyage 63W31/63E33 with an estimated time of arrival on Aug. 17.
The new port rotation will be as follows: Antwerp, Belgium; Thamesport, England; Bremerhaven, Germany; Charleston, S.C.; Port Everglades; Houston; Savannah, Ga.; Norfolk, Va.; and back to Antwerp. The rotation will take effect with the sailing of Hapag Lloyd’s Philadelphia Express, voyage 06W32/06E34 with an ETA on Aug. 24.
