Seaspan Corp. has accepted delivery of the container ship MOL Efficiency, bringing the company’s operating fleet to 71 vessels.
The ship, which has a capacity of 4,600 20-foot-equivalent units, was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. in 2003. It is on charter to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. under a two-year, fixed-rate time charter.
The MOL Efficiency is the sixth of a total of eight vessels to be chartered by Seaspan to MOL. Last month, Seaspan took delivery of the MOL Excellence, another 4,600-TEU container ship; it is also on charter to the ocean carrier.
