Maher Terminals has diverted the following Zim vessels from its terminal at the Port of New York and New Jersey to other marine terminals at Port Elizabeth, N.J., to be discharged:
- Zim Qingdao, voyage 39E, will work at PNCT Terminals in Port Elizabeth on July 5.
- Zim Monaco, voyage 25W, will work at APM Terminals in Port Elizabeth on July 7.
- Zim Constanza, voyage 21E, will work at PNCT Terminals in Port Elizabeth on July 11.
Maher said that Trac Intermodal will supply chassis and will publish chassis supply locations “shortly” and recommended that customers check the respective terminal Web sites for container availability. In addition, it has advised its customers to check the Maher Terminals Web site for current vessel receiving prior to sending drivers to the terminal, as it has had issues with drivers arriving at Maher Terminals for vessels that are not yet open.
The terminal had already diverted 12 other vessels, bringing the total number of diverted ships to 15, as it has struggled with ongoing operational issues following the launch of a new Navis terminal operating system in June.
Maher facilities, including the empty depot, will be open for all moves from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. this week, excluding July 4, when the terminal will be closed for truck line activity. Free time will continue to be extended and demurrage waived through next Friday, July 5.
