International cargo moving on Japan’s All Nippon Airways increased 7.9 percent to 47,053 tons in May, the third consecutive year-over-year gain.
But domestic cargo volume fell 1.7 percent to 37,308 tons, the second consecutive year-over-year decline.
Meanwhile, rival Japan Airlines said its international cargo volume grew 5.5 percent to 20,917 tons in the month, its second straight year-over-year gain. Its domestic volume also grew, increasing 2.1 percent from a year earlier to 31,451 tons. It was the third consecutive year-over-year increase.
