Wallenius Lines has ordered two post-Panamax car carriers at the Tanjin Yingang Shipyard for delivery in 2015 and 2016.
The Swedish line also has an option on two more ships from the Chinese shipyard.
The vessels are among the largest car carriers, with a capacity for 8,000 vehicles.
The order follows a similar contract, also including two options, signed by Wallenius Lines’ Norwegian partner Wallenius Wilhelmsen at South Korea’s Hyundai shipyard in May.
The vessels will operate in the companies’ joint venture, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, the world’s largest roll-on, roll-off car carrier.
“We believe in a strong market for our segment of shipping,” said Wallenius Lines CEO Anders Boman.
