CMA CGM has added a weekly westbound call at Durban, South Africa, to its MIDAS service, connecting India and the Persian Gulf with southern and western Africa.
The first sailing of the new rotation is the Albert Rickmers, voyage MU655W.
The container line has also merged its two services connecting the Persian Gulf and India with East Africa, the Kenya Express and Tanzania Express services, into the Swahili Express, a new fixed-day weekly service. The Swahili Express is operated along the following rotation: Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates; Khor al Fakkan, Oman; Mombasa, Kenya; Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; Zanzibar, Tanzania; and back to Jebel Ali.
In addition, CMA CGM has added a direct call at Venice, Italy, to its fixed-day, weekly Phoenician Express service, connecting the Far East with the Adriatic. The upgraded service will be effective with the CMA CGM Corneille, voyage BE939W, with an estimated time of arrival in Venice on July 24. It will be operated along the following rotation: Venice; Rijeka, Croatia; Trieste, Italy; Port Said, Egypt; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Port Klang, Malaysia; Singapore; Shanghai; Busan, South Korea; Chiwan, China; Hong Kong; Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia; Port Said; Beirut; Trieste; Koper, Slovenia; and back to Venice.
The carrier will also implement a rate increase on July 1 for all cargo on its trade from Asia, including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh, to West Africa. The hike will be $250 per 20-foot-equivalent unit.
