The CMA CGM Jules Verne has made its maiden call at the Terminal de France in Port 2000 in Le Havre, France, as part of its first rotation on the French Asia Line 1 service, connecting Northern Europe with Asia.
The 16,020-TEU vessel, the third in a series of mega-ships ordered by CMA CGM and named after sea explorers, had 12,315 TEUs on board, according to Haropa, which combines the French ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris. About 70 percent of the shipment loaded in Le Havre reflects traffic coming from other European countries, Haropa said.
The Jules Verne is 396 meters (about 1,299 feet) long and 177 feet wide. It was inaugurated by French President François Hollande in Marseille earlier this month.
