IAG Cargo will offer additional freight capacity between London and Rio de Janeiro.
The new flight will bring the weekly total on the Rio de Janeiro route to seven frequencies, adding an extra 42 metric tons of capacity per week. From Oct. 28, 2013, the route will be served daily by a Boeing 777-300ER, replacing the 777-200 currently deployed on the route.
“The additional flights will prove highly beneficial to IAG Cargo’s South American business and our customers, allowing us to increase our offering in a market that is showing real growth amidst difficult global conditions,” said David Shepherd, head of commercial at IAG Cargo, in a written statement.
IAG Cargo, created from the merger of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo, said the additional capacity is the result of an increase in the frequency of British Airways passenger flights from April.
