FedEx Ground Shipping Service will move its Jacksonville, Fla., distribution hub to a new facility it is planning to build at the Cecil Commerce Center, Jacksonville Business Journal reports.
The 300,000-square-foot facility, scheduled for completion in 2015, will replace FedEx’s existing facility in Jacksonville.
“The location of the facility is within an enterprise zone and an empowerment zone,” said Jess Bull, spokesperson for the company, in an e-mail to a Jacksonville Business Journal reporter. “We will be taking advantage of those tax credit programs at the appropriate time.”
The site was chosen because of its proximity to major highways and customers’ distribution centers, according to an official statement from FedEx.
