Norfolk Southern has officially unveiled its Franklin County Regional Intermodal Facility in Pennsylvania.
Wick Moorman, NS’s CEO, and Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa., joined federal, state and local officials to dedicate the facility.
The $97 million terminal, located on 200 acres south of Greencastle, Pa., near Interstate 81, connects Central Pennsylvania, western Maryland and northern Virginia to domestic and international markets. The facility, a private-public partnership involving $52 million in NS funds and supported by a $45 million investment by Pennsylvania, is part of the Class I railroad’s Crescent Corridor series of projects. It is the third Crescent Corridor intermodal terminal NS has opened since mid-2012.
