Coos Bay Rail Link has entered into a 10-year agreement with the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, authorizing CBR to operate the 134-mile line.
CBR, a Coos Bay, Ore.-based subsidiary of ARG Transportation Services, has been operating revenue freight trains since October 2011 under an interim deal. The line connects with the Union Pacific Railroad at Eugene, Ore., operating southwest via Coos Bay to Coquille, Ore. Principal commodities moved include wood products, bulk shipments, steel and dairy feed.
“This long-term agreement assures stability for the railroad,” said Tom Foster, CBR’s general manager, in a written statement.
CBR is also currently benefitting from a $31 million track improvement program.
