Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order to deliver two diesel electric straddle carriers to Port Otago, a container-handling operator in New Zealand.
The ESC 450W straddle carriers, with a capacity of 50 metric tons and stacking capability of 1-over-3, are scheduled for delivery by the end of this year.
“This purchase continues a longstanding alliance with Kalmar that started 21 years ago with the purchase of two SISU straddle carriers,” said Lincoln Coe, general manager of infrastructure at Port Otago, in a written statement. “The new machines will allow us to finally retire those reliable and trustworthy workhorses.”
Port Otago has also purchased Kalmar SmartFleet, a process automation system.
