Zim Integrated Shipping Services will end its involvement in the two northern Europe-related trans-Atlantic services that are currently part of its service offering, linervision reports.
The Israeli carrier will leave a service operated jointly with Hamburg Süd and OOCL, with its final participation on the sailing of the OOCL Kuala Lumpur from New York on June 10. Zim will also stop taking slots in a service operated by Hanjin, Evergreen, Yang Ming and Cosco, at the end of August.
The container line has not given any indication of possible replacement services. Zim’s only participation in the northern trans-Atlantic trade will be its Mediterranean-related ZCA service.
Rates in the trans-Atlantic trade have fallen substantially this year, according to the World Container Index.
