Workforce Florida has made available a $2 million Quick Response Training Challenge Grant for employers in Florida’s logistics and trade industry, according to Chris Hart IV, president and CEO of the statewide work force policy board.
The grant, which has been applauded by the Florida Department of Transportation, aims to meet the training needs of existing Florida companies in the state’s logistics and trade sector. A goal of the grant is to help these companies enhance competitiveness by improving the skills of existing and new employees hired over the next year. The grant will be funded through Workforce Florida’s Quick Response Training program.
Hart announced the challenge grant during the 2013 Florida Logistics & Trade Conference, hosted by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation, Enterprise Florida, Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association and the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Hart also unveiled freightmovesflorida.com, a newly designed Web portal that consolidates resources for logistics-related information.
