Both exports and imports handled by Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd. showed year-over-year increases in April 2013. This followed two straight months of declining air cargo volume.
In April 2013, Hactl handled 52.5 million kg of air cargo imports, 1.4 percent more than April 2012. The biggest regional change this month in imports was a 14.2 percent drop in cargo from the Southwest Pacific. Despite the year-over-year rise, the tonnage was 7.3 percent lower than in March. Imports in the first four months of 2013 totaled 205.9 million kg and were up 1.1 percent year-over-year.
Hactl handled 126.4 million kg of exports in April, up 4 percent from April 2012 and up 1.3 percent from March. The largest regional change in exports was a 20.4 percent jump in cargo carried to the Middle East. Exports in the first four months of 2013 totaled 442.1 million kg, down 1.6 percent from the same period in 2012.
