Kuehne + Nagel is adding 30,000 square meters (about 322,917 square feet) to its premises in Geel, Belgium, increasing the capacity of the site to a total of 87,293 square feet.
The expansion follows the growth of storage space for a customer providing printers, toners and accessories, located at the Geel site. Moreover, the additional capacity in Geel will be used for new businesses acquired in 2012, particularly for a provider of espresso and coffee machines and for a toy manufacturer.
The first phase of construction includes an additional 214,278 square feet that will be added to the existing site. The full completion of the first phase is planned for October 2013. The second phase will provide the possibility of a further 107,639 square feet. The last compartment will be specifically designed to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical and health care industry.
The existing facility was built in 2006, and the logistics company at the same time also acquired the adjoining land that is now being used for the extension of the site.
