ABS’s board of directors has elected Christoper J. Wiernicki, current president and CEO of the offshore and marine classification services company, to the role of chairman, effective May 1.
This transfer of responsibilities to Wiernicki from Robert D. Somerville, the current ABS chairman, is part of a leadership transition strategy that has been executed over the past two years.
Separately, the board of directors of ABS Group of Companies, a subsidiary of ABS, has also elected Wiernicki to the position of chairman.
Wiernicki is a 20-year veteran of ABS. He joined the company in 1993 as vice president of engineering within the ABS Americas division. Other senior positions included president and chief operating officer of ABS Europe, as well as president, CTO and chief operating officer of ABS Group of Companies.
