Juan Kuryla, deputy port director at Miami, has been chosen the new CEO at the Port of Jacksonville.
The Jaxport board unanimously voted for Kuryla over two other finalists — interim CEO Roy Schleicher and Michael E. Moore, the former CEO of Global Container Terminals.
The selection came after the board interviewed eight candidates to succeed Paul Anderson, who resigned in December to become chief executive of the Tampa Port Authority.
Candidates identified in a national search included Jerry Bridges, former CEO at the Port of Virginia; Bernard Groseclose, ex-CEO of the South Carolina Ports Authority; Juan Kuryla, deputy port director at Miami; Michael E. Moore, former CEO of Global Container Terminals in Bayonne, N.J.; and Ivy Suter, ex-CEO at Trailer Bridge.
Local candidates were Schleicher, state legislator Lake Ray and Jaxport senior director Eric Green.
