TCB Railways has reached a monthly transportation capacity of 17,000 20-foot-equivalent units between the Port of Barcelona and hinterland intermodal terminals in Zaragoza, Vitoria, Selgua, Azuqueca de Henares, Burgos and Valladolid in Spain.
Last year, the Grup TCB subsidiary handled 117,000 TEUs, and the forecast for 2013 is 130,000 TEUs annually, an 11 percent increase year-over-year.
In February, TCB Railway inaugurated a freight service at the Arrubal station to cover the Logroño region with six weekly roundtrip trains, while simultaneously increasing frequencies to provide service to hinterland terminals.
The company’s services will continue to increase with the launch of the Barcelona-Tarragona corridor, which will be implemented this year. The launch includes an expansion of the Barcelona Container Terminal yard, which will extend the rail terminal from the current 450 meters to 750 meters to boost intermodal services.
