Kim Fejferhas, A.P. Moller-Maersk’s executive board member, has visited senior members of the Omani government with a delegation representing APM Terminals, owned by A.P. Moller Maersk, to discuss Omani logistics infrastructure and economic development at the Port of Salalah.
The meetings with Ali Sunaidi, Oman’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Sultan Al Habsi, Oman’s Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning, included discussions to enable the addition of 3 million 20-foot-equivalent units of capacity to the port, which is currently at 5 million TEUs.
APM Terminals holds a 30 percent share of the Port of Salalah and manages the facility. The Omani government holds a 20 percent share of the venture, with 21 percent held by various institutional investors and 29 percent held by pension funds and private investors.
