Georgia’s state legislature has approved funding an additional $50 million for the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project.
The extra funding was originally proposed by Gov. Nathan Deal in his budget request for fiscal year 2014 and now awaits his signature.
Along with previous funding, Georgia has allocated $231.1 million toward the state’s portion of the project, which will deepen the Savannah Harbor from 42 feet to 47 feet. Overall, the cost of the project is expected to be $652 million.
