Forty intra-Europe carriers carry more than 175,000 20-foot-equivalent units of containers a week on more than 160 services, according to new report by Netherlands-based Dynamar B.V.
Intra-Europe carriers provide nearly 1,000 sailings per week from 134 North Europe ports, Dynamar said. Sailing frequencies range from less than one call per month at Archangelsk on the Russian Arctic coast to more than 100 per week at Rotterdam.
With 32 ships, Unifeeder has the most ships of any of the 40 intra-Europe carriers, but its nominal capacity is 28 percent less than the 41,200-TEUs provided by Mediterranean Shipping Co.’s 24 ships in the trade, Dynamar said.
The top three intra-Europe carriers, MSC, CMA CGM and Unifeeder, have a combined share of 49 percent of the trade’s annualized capacity, the report said.
