SCNB Logistics Group has sold its stakes in H&S Container Line and Haeger & Schmidt International, as well as its majority stake in RKE NV, to Felbermayr Holding, with retroactive effect as of Jan. 1, 2013.
The Belgian rail freight group sold all of its shares in the three inland shipping companies to Wels, Austria-based Felbermayr. H&S Container Line was a 100 percent affiliate of Inter Ferry Boats, an affiliate of SNCB Logistics. Haeger & Schmidt International was a 100 percent affiliate of Xpedys, an affiliate of SNCB Logistics. Xpedys also held a 61.46 percent stake in RKE. ThyssenKrupp continues to hold its 38.54 percent stake in RKE.
The management and staff remain in place, and the continuity of the activities of the three companies has been assured, SCNB Logistics said.
The transaction is in line with SNCB Logistics’ restructuring plan to focus on its core rail freight business and become a competitive private railway company. For Felbermayr, its acquisition of the three barging companies complements its existing port facilities in Linz an der Donau, Austria, and Krefeld am Rhein, Germany.
